Getting started
Money SMS is an Android app that pays you to let your phone receive automated test text messages — messages that help telecom companies check SMS delivery quality worldwide. You install it once and earn quietly in the background, with no tasks, surveys, or daily check-ins.
See how it worksTelecom SMS providers and Mobile Network Operators need to send test messages to verify their delivery infrastructure works correctly across different countries and networks. Money SMS users provide real phone numbers for this testing, and you earn a share of the testing fee for every test that runs through your device.
Money SMS runs on Android phones with an active SIM that can receive standard SMS. It does not work on iPhone (iOS), and it's not supported on Huawei or Honor phones, because they block the background features the app needs to keep receiving tests. Availability also depends on which routes need testing in your country, so supported regions change over time — during sign-up, the app checks your number and country and tells you whether you're currently eligible.
If your country isn't listed during registration, it means Money SMS isn't available in your region yet. We're constantly expanding to new markets, so it's worth checking back periodically.
You don't need to keep it on screen, but the app must keep running in the background at all times — so don't swipe it away from your recent apps. To check it's active, look for its notification showing 'Status: OK. Waiting for SMS'. As long as your phone is on, connected to the internet, and able to receive SMS, you'll keep earning.
Installing Money SMS takes a few steps, including granting several Android permissions so the app can receive and confirm test messages. We keep the full step-by-step walkthrough, with a screenshot for each step, on a dedicated page.

Money SMS is operated by TelQ Telecom GmbH, an EU company and one of the largest providers of SMS quality-assurance services worldwide. The service is GDPR compliant, with encrypted data handling. Over 900,000 users have registered, and we've paid out more than €1 million. You can also check our 4.5-star Trustpilot rating from 2,200+ reviews.
Visit the Security CenterNo. Money SMS never reads, stores, or shares your private messages. The app only detects the automated test messages sent by TelQ and its customers — these contain machine-generated codes from specific routing paths. Your personal conversations are completely ignored.
What we access (and don't)Receiving and confirming test messages requires the SMS permission — that's the core of how the service verifies delivery. Without it, your phone can't be assigned tests or earn.
See every permission explainedYes, completely. Money SMS never accesses your personal calls, your contacts, or your call history — it only handles the automated silent test calls routed from TelQ's testing infrastructure. These test calls carry no audio and are declined automatically, so nothing is ever recorded or listened to.
Yes. Money SMS is run by an EU company, TelQ Telecom GmbH, and follows the GDPR. Your data is handled securely with encryption and is used only to run the SMS and call testing — we never sell your personal information. You stay in control: you can delete your account and all your data at any time from the app's Settings.

The latest version is 7.8.3. We release updates regularly, so to make sure you're up to date, download the app from our official website — it always serves the newest version.
You need at least Android 7 — phones on older versions can't install the app at all. Any newer version works fine. Money SMS is also processor-independent, so it runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit phones (newer phones, on Android 12 and above, use 64-bit processors).
For now, Money SMS doesn't support dual-SIM use — one account works with one SIM. You can have the app on a dual-SIM phone, but it earns only on the number you registered, so keep that SIM in the phone, active, and able to receive standard SMS.
Yes — you can use additional Android phones, each with its own active SIM, to receive more test messages. Each device must be a genuine, separately reachable number; duplicates or emulators aren't eligible.
Yes, but your email can only be linked to one number at a time. When you register a new number with the same email, that email stops being used with your old number and moves to the new one. The new number is a fresh account with its own balance from zero. To keep your old balance, withdraw it first before you switch — or, if your old account shows a 'Balance transfer' option in Settings, you can send the remaining balance to your new account yourself, though this permanently blocks the old account.
On the login screen, tap 'Forgot password' and enter the email linked to your account. We'll send you a message with a link to set a new password. If you don't see it, check your spam folder — and if you still can't get in, contact support and we'll help you recover your account.
We can't change the phone number on an existing account. If you have a new number, please create a new account with it — each number is treated as a separate account, with its own balance and withdrawal history.
The 'Balance transfer' option moves a remaining balance from an old account to another Money SMS account you already have. It's mainly for when your old number has stopped receiving tests but you haven't reached the €2 minimum withdrawal yet, so you can't cash it out the normal way. Register your new number first, then — if your old account shows 'Balance transfer' in Settings — send the balance to the new account from there. Important: once the balance is transferred, the old account is permanently blocked and can't be used again. This option is not a way to change the number on an existing account.
While you're roaming abroad, your SIM usually won't receive the test SMS, so Money SMS won't earn during your trip. This is only temporary — once you're back on your home network, the app regains availability and works as usual. If you've moved to another country permanently, the best option is to get a local SIM and register it in Money SMS.
Go to Settings in the app and select 'Delete my account', in line with GDPR. Be sure to withdraw any remaining balance first — and note that once deleted, you can't register again with the same phone number.
Read our privacy approachNo. Once an account is deleted, you can't register again with the same phone number. To use the app again, you'd need to register with a different number.
Receiving SMS
You earn per test message your phone successfully receives — about €0.01 to €0.03 per SMS, depending on the route being tested. Your live balance updates inside the app.
See earning rates & optionsTest volume follows real demand, so quiet days simply mean fewer tests came to your number. To get more, keep the app running with a stable internet connection and turn off battery saver for it — we prioritize users who stay available. Using a new number can also help, since older numbers often get less volume.
No. The test messages are standard inbound SMS, which are free to receive on virtually all mobile plans. There are no fees to use the app.
You'll receive automated test messages containing random letters and numbers — for example "Test message 8842", "TelQ verification code: A7K9", or just a short string like "X4particle". You don't need to do anything with them — just ignore them and don't reply. Your phone number is only ever used for receiving these test messages.
Nothing — just leave them. You don't need to read or reply to them. Once a message has been counted in the app, it's perfectly fine to delete it if you want to keep your inbox tidy.
Call testing
Call testing lets telecom companies check how well their calls connect. It works much like SMS receiving, just with silent calls instead of messages. When it's active on your account, silent test calls are placed to your device and you earn €0.02 per test call. Everything runs automatically: the calls are received and declined in the background, so you never need to answer and your normal phone use is never interrupted.
See call testing detailsTest calls don't appear as regular calls — the app automatically intercepts and declines them before they ring. You won't hear anything or see any call notifications.
No. There are no costs for call testing. All test calls are automatically declined, so no airtime or charges apply — you only earn, never spend.
You earn €0.02 for each test call, and there's no upper limit on how many you can receive. The app has a dedicated section where your call-testing earnings are tracked separately from SMS — open it any time to see how many test calls you've received and exactly how much they've added to your balance.
See rates & payout detailsCall testing is switched on only when our partners need testing in your mobile network. If it isn't available on your account right now, it usually means we already have enough active users on your network. This can change over time — when it does, you'll see the setting appear and be asked to grant the required permissions.
Referrals
The referral program lets you earn more by inviting friends. Everyone who registers with your code gets a €0.50 welcome bonus (€0.25 sign-up + €0.25 referral), and you earn 30% of their first withdrawal.
See the referral programLog in, go to Settings, and open the Referral Program section. You'll see your code there — copy it and share it on social media, messaging apps, or anywhere else.
Open the app, go to Settings, and tap the Referral Program section. There you can see how many people joined with your code and how much you've earned from them.
No — there's no cap. You get the referral reward for every friend who joins with your code, paid when they make their first withdrawal. Your code never expires, so you can keep inviting as many people as you like, in any country or mobile network, and keep earning.
Unfortunately, a referral code can't be added after you've registered. To get the bonus, you'd need to create a new account with a different phone number and enter the code during registration.
Sending SMS
Being phased outSMS Sending is being gradually phased out because of Google Play policy changes that restrict SMS permissions for third-party apps. If it's already active on your account, you can keep using it from the SMS Sending section on the app's main screen. For new users it may not be available — so we recommend focusing on SMS receiving and call testing as your main ways to earn.
See SMS sending detailsYes — you need enough balance on your SIM for an SMS to go out, and you're charged your network's standard SMS rate.
No. Once SMS Sending is enabled, the app handles everything automatically — test messages are sent in the background with no manual action from you.
The messages go to test numbers managed by telecom companies — never to real people or anyone in your contacts. Your number is used to check that SMS delivery works correctly across mobile networks in your country, and it's only visible to the receiving test system.
The messages contain random test strings, which may include links. All content is strictly monitored and used exclusively for telecom testing — no harmful or spam content is ever sent.
Up to 50 test SMS per month are sent from your number, at €0.15 each.
Payouts & withdrawals
The minimum withdrawal amount is €2. This threshold exists to cover the processing fees we pay on each transfer. Once you're above it, you can request a withdrawal anytime.
You can cash out via PayPal, Bitcoin (BTC), or Litecoin (LTC). Choose your method on the app's payout screen and confirm your details. We can't transfer directly to mobile phones, credit cards, or bank accounts because of the high processing costs for micro-payments.
See payout methodsWe process withdrawal requests within 24–48 hours. After that, arrival time depends on your method: PayPal is usually same-day, Litecoin takes around 5 minutes, and Bitcoin around 30 minutes on-chain.
'Payment sent' means the money has been sent to your wallet. Please allow up to 48 hours for it to arrive. PayPal payments are usually instant, while Bitcoin and Litecoin transfers may take longer due to blockchain processing times.
A 'Failed' status means our system tried to send the payment but it didn't go through. Double-check that your payout address (PayPal email or crypto wallet) is correct. If possible, try an alternative payment address and submit a new withdrawal request.
First verify you entered your payout address correctly. PayPal users should check their inbox — you may need to accept the payment manually. For crypto payments, allow extra time, as blockchain confirmations can take longer when the network is congested.
If you see an unclaimed payment from Money SMS in your PayPal wallet, you need to accept it. You can either convert it to your primary currency or keep it in EUR (we send payments in EUR). This happens when PayPal requires manual confirmation for certain incoming payments.
If your withdrawal is still pending and hasn't been paid yet, you can cancel it and the amount returns to your balance — contact support as soon as possible. Once the status shows 'Payment sent' or 'Paid', the payment has already been processed and can no longer be cancelled.
No — once a withdrawal is sent it can't be reversed, so always double-check your payout address before you confirm. If a PayPal payment goes to an email with no account, it usually stays unclaimed and returns to your balance after a while. Crypto transfers (Bitcoin and Litecoin) are final and can't be recovered if the wallet address is wrong.
Money SMS is passive side income, not a salary. Earnings depend on demand for your country's routes and how consistently your phone stays reachable. Treating it as a low-effort bonus on top of an always-on phone sets the right expectation.
Troubleshooting
Make sure you're logged in and the app is open in the background. The SIM must be in the same phone as the app, and your number must be correct and active. Turn off Wi-Fi calling, because it can block SMS delivery, and let the app run without battery optimization. The number of test messages also depends on your network — some networks get more traffic than others, and the volume can go up and down from day to day. Once everything is set up, just keep the app installed and running and be patient — messages arrive automatically, so your balance will keep growing on its own even while you're not looking.
Money SMS credits your balance only when a test SMS is successfully received and confirmed by our system, so make sure the app is online within one hour of receiving the message. This usually happens when the app was closed or had no internet when the message arrived, so it couldn't confirm it in time. To avoid it, keep the app running in the background with a stable connection and don't force-close it.
This is almost always your phone's battery saver shutting it down. Allow Money SMS to run in the background and exclude it from battery optimization so it can stay reachable. On most Android phones you'll find this under Settings → Apps → Money SMS → Battery, then choose Unrestricted (on some phones it's Settings → Battery → Battery optimization, then set Money SMS to Don't optimize). The exact wording varies by brand, but the option is always in your phone's battery settings.
It means the app isn't accepting new registrations on your network right now — we limit active users per network to keep testing quality high. Join the waiting list in the app to be notified when a spot opens. You can also register with a different SIM: some highly requested networks even pay an extra bonus.
See requested networks & bonusesIn some countries, such as Russia or China, the app interface may not load without a VPN, so you'll need to keep one on while using the app. Good news: even without a VPN, test messages still arrive and your balance keeps growing in the background — the VPN only affects whether the screen loads, not your earnings.
Check your spam or junk folder first, and make sure your email address was entered correctly. Wait a minute and request the email again. If it still doesn't arrive, contact support for additional help.
Make sure your phone has signal and internet so the code can arrive, and check that your phone number was entered correctly. Turning off Wi-Fi calling can help too, since it sometimes delays incoming SMS. Wait a minute and request the code again — and if it still doesn't come, contact support for additional help.
Money SMS updates download as an APK file (the app isn't on the Google Play Store), so your phone may warn you before installing. Two things can block it: 'Install unknown apps' being turned off for your browser, or Google Play Protect flagging the file. This is safe — it's the same official app, just a newer version. The installation guide below shows exactly how to allow the update on your phone.
